GAMES DESIGN
UNITY
2D Game Design
For this task, I had to create 16 separate 2d tiles. The tiles had to be floorings of the game. I created grass floorings with some water. Once I created the 16 tiles, I then had to create a background for the game. After creating the background and tiles, I will be importing it into After Effects and creating a 2d animation game.
Unity
Today, I had to import the assets I created on Adobe Illustrator into Unity, Unity is a gaming design software that will help me animate my game. I layered my assets using the position tool which allowed me to create the location and setting of my game. I found Unity hard to get used to as the settings and tools are not similar to Adobe's software. However, once I understood how to layer my assets I became more confident with it.
Coin Frames
For this task I had to create a collector's item for my character. I chose to create a bouncing coin. I felt this animation would fit well with my animated assets as gold is featured across the landscape I created.
I also have to animate my coin character frames into a GIF to practise my animation skills and editing for my game.
Character Frames
For today's task, I had to create three frames of a character running. To create this character i used adobe illustrator and had my character in a 2d format. The reason I am creating these three frames is to make a character for my 2d game. In Adobe After Effects I will later animate the motion of the character into my games background (as seen above).
I also have to animate these character frames into a GIF to practise my animation skills and editing for my game.
Game - Finished - Recording
The video below is of my finished game:
Here is a still image of my game layout!
The images below are screenshots of my Unity Game - I struggled to export it into a mp4 so instead I have recorded my game on my phone. My character moving across the landscape I created and you can see that when he chases the coin object, it disappears. I would have this game more developed, however I am having to learn unity at home and have stifled with creating this game design.
